A DAY HARVESTING WITH CELLER JOSEP VICENS

Before starting to harvest grapes, it is important to know if the vineyard has the optimal conditions to be able to collect the grapes. In order to find out, random samples of grapes from the property or properties in question are collected and analyzed to observe acidity and degree.

Once given the green light by the analyses, it is decided when to go harvesting grapes and, as you can imagine, this season is the most special and tough of the whole year.

As we advanced in our post on social networks (Intagram, Facebook, Linkedin...), the harvest campaign starts earlier each time due to weather conditions, and that is why, currently, harvest begins in August.

In this month we can find that during the day the temperatures are very high and, for this reason, it is sought to start as early as possible to avoid the high temperatures of midday. So, when the sun starts to lighten, we set off in the direction of the Celler lands to start the harvest of grape.

Once we arrive at the land, we deliver the bucket and the grape harvesting scissors, and we start the work.
Going to harvest grape has its charm, since all the properties are located in the region of Terra Alta and, therefore, the landscape is unique, but it is a physical job that requires a lot of effort and concentration.

The harvesting process is easy: you must harvest all the grapes that are in good condition, avoiding picking grapes that are not healthy and the carrolls, a small grape that has not matured enough to be harvested.

After this process, the grapes are moved to the Cellar and that's where the magic begins.
